The Secondary Technical
School in Frýdek-Místek
was founded in 1958. Originally the school
used to meet the needs of our industrial region, especially
those concerning metallurgy and later also mechanical
engineering.
Today our school is a modern secondary school of polytechnic
character focused on metallurgy, mechanical engineering,
technical equipment of buildings and administration. Recently
our school offers a promising novelty - a new branch to study -
general education which would make a good base for students´
technical specialization at universities later.
The school co-operates with big industrial enterprises as Třinec
Ironworks a.s., Mittal Steel Ostrava a.s., Vítkovice a.s. , but
also with smaller companies and firms in our region – Novogear,
Distep, Ferrit , HK Konstrukce and others.
The school provides technical secondary education which is
finished with a school leaving examination (maturita). Students
can study the following branches:
-
Metallurgy
(only at our school in the whole Czech Republic) – students
learn fundamentals of metalworking and metal production.
-
Mechanical
engineering - students acquire very good
knowledge of standard engineering production and learn to
use the latest CAD/CAM technologies and CNC machine tools.
-
Technical
equipment of buildings – teaches the fundamentals
of designing central heating, air-conditioning, medical
equipment, installation of gas and water system in buildings.
-
Technical
administration in engineering - is a branch
suitable for girls who besides learning economics,
accounting and writing business letters learn the basics of
engineering, including designing and calculating simple
machine parts.
-
A technical
school (lyceum) – is a new grammar school-like
technical branch which provides students with general
education so that they can study at technical universities.
Besides learning general subjects as mathematics, physics
and chemistry the students are taught the fundamentals of
computer assisted industrial technologies in metallurgy and
engineering.
Besides usual duties there are many after-school
activities for our students to join and enjoy. Every year our 1-st
class students take part in a week´s ski-training, the 3-rd
class students can enjoy a trip to Italy, Greece or Spain. Every
March the school gives a big dance ball, which is a welcome and
popular cultural experience for students of the 3-rd and 4-th
classes, graduates, teachers and students´parents. Among many
sports activities a traditional hiking trip called „Okolo Frýdku
cestička“ is definitely worth mentioning. It has been popular
not only with our students, but also with other citizens of
Frýdek-Místek for over 25 years. Our school is a modern
secondary school open to co-operate with schools abroad.

After starting practices
and commensurate time of employee, graduates are
prepared for practise of technical or economical
professions in design, technology and production,
eventually enterprise activities. They can use computer
and information resources. Knowledge of computer-aided
designing with AutoCAD programme and its super-structures
in the field of engineering is commonplace. Knowledge of
elementary programming CNC machines and operation on
them. Typical occupation examples for graduates:
constructor, designer, production engineer, part
programmer of CNC machines, foreman, system operator,
engineering inspection worker, quality controller,
standartization, planning, product purchase and sales
worker. |

The branch is mainly
intended for boys. After starting practices and
commensurate time of employee, graduates are prepared
for practise of technical or economical professions in
production and technology and for sophisticated
operations in the field of production and metal
processing, eventually non-metalic materials. They can
use computer and information resources. Typical
occupation examples for graduates: foreman, roller,
system operator, technical preparation or production
planning worker, quality controller, standartization,
planning, product purchase and sales worker. |

school (lyceum) |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Technical lyceum is an
advanced field of study, a grammer school-like technical
branch, which is intended for students more interested
in technology and science, preparing them for university
studies. This branch distinctively intensifies science
school subjects (maths, physics, chemistry, geography,
biology). Special technical subjects (computer
technology, descriptive geometry, technical drawing) and
their methods support skills needed for university
studies. Optional school subjects make up a large group,
which influence on students´ incoming professional
orientation. |
